I am interesting in how you cut dragon fruit and how you eat it!
Me too. What I also saw in Chinatown was a street vendor cutting into a durian and removing the long yellow fruit. Next time!
I saw Dragon Fruit on a Food Network past Chopped episode today. It was white with black flecks inside. I think they said it had a rough texture, slight sweetness? What did you think of it?
Alas, Dragon Fruit are more exotic to look at than they are to eat!
The taste is rather bland, but some are a bit sweeter than others, the texture is a bit like melon, but more granular/jellylike and with the tiny seeds inside. They are refreshing on a hot day. Simply slice lengthways into quarters and peel back the beautiful skin to eat the white flesh.
I would advise waiting until they are available cheaply – in London, England there are numerous greengrocers that sell bowls of fruit and veg for £1, which can be good value – rather than pay the full price in the supermarket. Last year, they were selling three for a pound.
One of my favorite fruits eventhough there’s only a part of my country where dragon fruit can be grown, which means it’s rare.
